Gus

I met Susan Graham, owner/operator of Ashiyas K9 Services when I fell for a large, brown terrier in New Orleans. A week later, Gus had failed his temperament test and was slated for euthanasia. He needed Sue's knowledge and experience; I needed her realistic and honest assessment of his temperament and potential. Gus arrived in Canada sickly, defiant and fearful of people. Through consistency, exercise and the implementation and enforcement of boundaries, Sue transformed Gus into a responsive, confident dog and unleashed his huge sense of humour.
Now in his forever home, Gus is a tribute to Sue's ability to create a different future for even the most unfortunate dog. Since that time, I have used Sue's boarding and training services extensively for my own dog (changing him from dog fearful to dog social) as well as for numerous dogs/puppies who have come south for rehoming through IFAW's Northern Dogs Project. I trust Sue implicitly and highly recommend her boarding, grooming and behaviour services for any dog owner who is looking to make a difference in their dog's life.

Storm

It is not often I feel compelled to write a letter regarding superior service. When we purchased our fat, black ball of fur in January of 2008, we did not realize how attached we would become to our new pup.

Our breeder had recommended a boarding kennel north of Toronto. New facilities, state of the art kennels, and great care. We left our seven month old lab "Storm" there for two nights to "try it out". When we picked him up, I was immediately aware that he hadn't been to the bathroom in 36 hours. No one had bothered to make sure this puppy knew how to use the doggy door in his pen. Certainly not my idea of great care! Extra charges for "play time" had been ignored.

At his next vet appointment, I happened to pick up your pamphlet. Little did I know, fate had led me to you.

"Storm" is a happy, healthy 2 year old now, and I would not consider leaving him in anyone elses care. He plays, gets walks, and constant socialization. I have seen you transform "problem" dogs, into happy, sociable playmates for him. When I pick him up, he is always in great shape, ready to nap from all the activity, and ready to look forward to his next visit with his "friends".

It takes a special kind of "angel" to communicate with these wonderful animals, and to provide an environment where they are safe and loved. You understand what they need, and how to approach each challenge with care and compassion. I've seen dogs that were unloved and abused become happy individuals. You rescue and revitalize.

Please accept my gratitude for leaving your pamphlet at the vet's office. It is an hour from my home to yours, and I will never complain about the distance. He's a big part of our family, and as a doting mother and grandmother, I know quality care when I see it we'll be looking forward to seeing you soon.

Chinook

I just wanted to thank you for taking such good care of our girl Chinook while we were away! I knew Jan would only have her go to a very special person, but I didn't know how much of a difference it could make!

I am amazed at the change in her! She is so much better with other dogs she meets now!

It is like she is more confident and has learned how to behave like a civilized member of dog society now.

Thanks also for the great photos of her running through the forests, smiling from ear to ear! She loves to run, and I am always amazed at her speed and athleticism.

I hope you enjoyed having her, because I know she enjoyed her stay.

Many, many thanks!
